Interval Ownership
Why invest in interval ownership?
Interval ownership (also called timeshare, vacation or fractional ownership) is a sensible way to own your own property for just the period of time you will use it. Does it make sense to purchase a wholly owned condominium? For most people, this option is cost prohibitive and really does not make sense when you will vacation in the Vail Valley only a few times per year.
Why not simply rent a condominium or hotel room when you vacation? Over the long term, the cost of interval ownership is more effective than renting. In addition, you are better able to plan your vacations because you know where and when you will be going. Interval ownership is a wonderful compromise between whole ownership and renting. You only pay for what you use. Costs of maintenance, utilities, taxes, upkeep and administration are kept to a minimum because they are divided among all the owners of the property.

Frequently asked Questions about Interval Ownership
- Why has the concept remained so popular?
Owners purchase only the weeks they can pleasurably use. Year-round ownership of a condominium or vacation home is not financially feasible for a majority of the population. Interval ownership makes it possible to own a condominium for the periods when it may be enjoyed and not pay for the periods when it is not in use.
- What is the typical number of days purchased?
These intervals are available in one-week increments. You can purchase as many weeks as you wish. Many of our owners have purchased periods in both the winter and the summer.
- What are the financial advantages of this type of ownership?
Generally, the cost of ownership pays for itself versus renting a hotel room or condominium within a few years. Also, certain tax deductions may be available, as with all types of real estate ownership. Consult your tax advisor for any specific benefits you may receive.
- Can I sell or rent my condominium or share?
You may rent or sell at any time you wish since you are an owner. Speak with an East West Resorts' representative for details about on-site rental and resale programs.
- Do I own the condominium for a defined number of years?
All interval sales are fully deeded and, therefore, you own it forever. It is part of your real estate holdings and can be willed or gifted to others.
- What are my options if I can't schedule my vacation during the week(s) that I purchased?
You have four options. Through East West Resorts you may put your Interval up for rental. Secondly, you have the opportunity to exchange your week through Interval International or Resort Condominiums International. Both are affiliated with over 2,000 properties around the world. Alternatively, management maintains a list of all owners wishing to trade amongst themselves. This list is available at the front desk and online. Lastly, you can make your condominium or suite available to your friends and family. Remember, East West Resort owners are entitled to 10% off rental stays at any East West Resort properties.
- Who is responsible for the management and maintenance of the suite or condominium?
A professional management company employed by your association shoulders this responsibility. Currently, the management company is East West Resorts, LLC. The cost of management and maintenance of the property are covered entirely by owners association dues.
